Cumberland Cooling is a locally owned and operated HVAC company made up of Nashville unicorns (natives) who genuinely care about doing the job right. We've built our name in East Nashville by treating people the way we'd want to be treated: By being neighborly, showing up on time, communicating clearly, and never trying to sell you something you don't need.
We love serving this diverse, fun, opinionated, and colorful community. We're proud to call our customers our neighbors... and we're a better company because of it.
Our Story
Small Company. Big Heart.
Cumberland Cooling was built with a simple mission: provide East Nashville homeowners with honest, high-quality heating and cooling service without the indigestion, skepticism, and headaches associated with "a big HVAC company." We're happy not to name names here :)
We've grown steadily and intentionally, to meet rising customer demand — because happy customers lead to more customers we want to keep happy. However, we've stayed intentionally small(ish) because we believe customer service isn't something you can automate or outsource. It's earned. It's the follow-through. It's being accountable. It's caring for your home as if it were our own.
We're dedicated to providing our East not-so-Nasty neighbors with the best possible heating, cooling, ductwork, and air quality solutions. We promise:

- We won't push unnecessary service agreements or costly contracts

Meet the Team

Cumberland Cooling started with John Mark and Blake, two Nashville natives with deep HVAC experience, a strong work ethic, and a shared belief that homeowners deserve better service than what's become "normal" in the industry.
As Cumberland Cooling's reputation grew (thanks to loyal East Nashville customers, billboards, bathroom stall advertising, and a whole lot of word-of-mouth), the team expanded, including bringing on Chelsea to help manage calls and scheduling, so customers always have a real person on the other end of the line.
From there, they continued growing, carefully adding technicians and support team members who share the same mindset: honest work, respectful service, and showing up when they say they will. Today, the team you see here is the result of that steady growth—and they're proud of every person on it.
Who We Are
At Cumberland Cooling, we're proud native Nashvillians who take even greater pride in serving our East Nashville neighbors. We live here, our kids go to school here, and we are proud to serve our community. We've intentionally grown at a measured pace, staying true to the level of customer service and trust our customers expect. As we continue to grow, that commitment remains unchanged. Every member of our team is hired with that same mission in mind: to serve our neighbors with honesty, care, and respect.
Blake Taylor
Owner and HVAC Technician
Nashville native Blake Taylor has worked in the service business his entire life. It's in the genes: his dad was a contractor, and his grandfather was in the HVAC biz. He's been fixing things since he could pick up a hammer.
He's lived in East Nashville since 2009, and his two children attend school in the neighborhood. Blake fantasizes about what he'd do in his free time (although he enjoys counting ceiling tiles at the dentist's office). In the meantime, he focuses on expanding his knowledge of all things HVAC-related and staying up to date on the latest industry innovations.
He is driven to treat every customer with the same respect, consideration, and honesty he would expect. He and his wife, Amber, enjoy spending time with their kids and enjoying all East Nashville offers.
John Mark Jackson
Owner and HVAC Technician
Believe it or not, it's been over 25 years since John Mark started working in the HVAC industry. He takes pride in his work and derives great satisfaction from a job well done.
He enjoys the heating and cooling service industry because it gives him the opportunity to meet new people and care for them in a rare, genuine way. He also appreciates the opportunity to be an active part of his community.
He lives in Madison with his wife, Ruth, who teaches at Dan Mills Elementary in Inglewood. When he's not on the Cumberland clock, he enjoys hanging out with his wife, his son Eli, and their rescue pup, Rooster. Together, they enjoy hiking, camping, and boating, and when it's deer hunting season, you might find him bagging a buck on his farm in Butler County, KY.
Chelsea Deering
Office Manager
East Nashville native Chelsea Deering has been keeping things running smoothly—and keeping the rest of us in line—at Cumberland Cooling for a solid decade. As our Office Manager, she brings a genuine love for connecting with the community to the office every single day.
When she's not wrangling paperwork or managing the daily office chaos, Chelsea is all about escaping into the great outdoors. A true animal lover, she spends her free time hiking, kayaking, camping, and traveling (and making the rest of us a little jealous of her vacation photos). Above all, Chelsea treasures time spent with her family, including her husband, Brad, whom she married in 2025.
Meet Dewey
Hi. I'm Dewey, Cumberland Cooling's newest employee. They pay me absolutely nothing, which feels unfair and potentially discriminatory toward animated mascots... but anyway, I digress.
My job is to add a little levity, point you in the right direction, and help you navigate the site without getting lost in HVAC jargon. I don't know why they thought this was a great idea... but here we are.
If you need help, keep an eye out for me. I'll pop up with tips, reminders, and the occasional harmless opinion.

We serve East Nashville because... honestly, we're East Nashvillians too. Selfishly, we didn't want to spend half our lives driving across town for inferior tacos.
But seriously, we love this neighborhood. We love the personality, the grit, the creativity, the history, the music, the porch sitters, the dog walkers, the families, the transplants, the locals, and the mix of backgrounds that make East Nashville what it is.

Our kids go to school here. Our families are here. John Mark's wife, Ruth (a saint for more than one reason), teaches at Dan Mills Elementary in Inglewood. This community is personal to us, and as Cumberland Cooling and East Nashville continue to grow, we plan to keep reinvesting our time and support right here at home.
